03/08/20 RUBY SHANE'S SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY
On Sunday March 8th, Promenader club members, attended the surprise 80th birthday party for Promenader Ruby Shane. The party was held in New Market and hosted by her two daughters. The photo on the upper right shows Ruby as she enters the room. The upper middle photo shows members of the Promenaders and other guests. The photo on the upper left is of the octogenarians (Alex Dommerich, Carl O'Dell, Ruby, and Mary Ann Gearinger) who attended the party. Carl O'Dell provided the calling for some Mainstream and PLUS square dancing tips.
03/06/20 MAD FOR PLAID DANCE
As you can see from the video and photo, it was plaid crazy at the Mad For Plaid dance on Friday March 6th. Club members and students enjoyed the food and calling of Guest Caller Doren McBroom.
2/25/20 SARAH STAMPER AND HER PRIZED BANNERS
Club Banner Steal Coordinator Sarah Stamper stands beside her most recent prized possessions. They are the result of her continuous successful steals of other clubs banners. Her booty consists of banners from the Tom Thumbs, Friendship Squares, Rivermont Ramblers, Village Swingers, and Merry Notes Square Dance Clubs. How many more will be added to this collection? 2/21/20 FISHERMAN'S LUCK DANCE WITH BAKED POTATOES
It was "Fish" and" Chips" with "all the toppings" on Friday night February 20th at the FCP dance in Walkersville MD. The "Fish" being the name of the dance and the "Chips" being the loaded baked potatoes being served. Five students from the PLUS dance class were part of the eight squares. As a side event at the dance, the Rivermont Ramblers Square Dance Club retrieved their previously stolen banner.
02/07/20 SOME ENCHANTED EVENING DANCE
The "Enchantment" was in the air and the red was in the garb at the Some Enchanted Evening Dance on Friday February 7th. Dance lessons class students were invited to attend this event. The caller was Mike McIntyre.
02/01/20 FRIENDSHIP BANNER STEAL
On Saturday 02/01 the Promenaders raided the Friendship Squares club dance and stole their prized club banner. The Promenader Raiders were last seen hightailing it westbound and down along I-70 West.
1/31/20 Lorien Visitation
On Friday 01/31 eleven members of the Promenaders visited the Lorien Assisted Living Home in Mt. Airy. The holiday spirit was in full force at the Silver Bells Ring dance with a delicious food spread, great calling and cueing by Mike and Linda, and a festive caroling session at the end.

The last dance class of 2019 had 8 students and 17 Angels celebrate the holiday season in decorative regalia. The Webmaster awarded gifts to 3 of the attendees for their efforts. They were: Rachel Ziegler (Cutest), Ron Welke (Ugliest), and Helen Roth (Most Creative).
12/6/19 ST. NICK TAKES ROUTE 66 DANCE
Under the guise of the WASCA themed St. Nick Takes Route 66 dance, the Panhandlers and BelAir Square Cats square dance clubs retrieved their previously stolen club banners. They were last seen fleeing down Route 70 East and West.
11/15/19 we are thankful pot luck DANCE
Club Members and Guest Visitors enjoyed the scrumptious morsels of food at the pot luck dinner before the We Are Thankful Dance on Friday November 15th.
11/2/19 Village Swingers banner stealFCP Club President Andrea The Hun and her Raiders, all 15 of them, ventured down I-270 on Saturday night with the devious mission to steal the sacred banner of the Village Swingers Square Dance Club of Rockville MD. Riding shotgun on the mission was Club Vice President Marjorie Barber. 10/18/19 TOM THUMBS BANNER STEALFor the second time within a week, Andrea's Raiders performed a successful Banner Steal on foreign soil. This steal occurred on Friday 10/18 at the home lair of the Tom Thumbs Square Dance Club in Ellicott City. It is now apparent that the new FCP Club President is going on the offensive with her team of Raiders.

8/26/19 ledo fund raising event
The Monday August 26th club fundraiser was a huge success as approximately 40 members and guests enjoyed the food and the camaraderie while helping to raise funds for the club.
6/26/19 68th national square dance convention
Members of the Promenaders and Gad-Abouts attended the 68th National Square Dance Convention in Marietta Georgia on June 26th to June 29th. The total count for the event was approximately 4100 guests. The main nightly attraction was in Hall A with the many Guest Callers accompanied by the musical group Ghost Riders to provide a high energy format for square dancing. The top picture is of the Promenaders and Gad-Abouts that attended the event. The second picture shows 5 of the 8 members of the contingent from China who wore a dazzling array of square dancing attire. The Guest Callers were a Who's Who of nationally recognized callers.

6/19/19 Dance Class GraduatesWednesday 6/19 marked the culmination of the 2018-2019 Dance Class. Twelve students graduated. Two from the Mainstream session, One from the PLUS session and nine from both the Mainstream & PLUS sessions.
The newly announced FCP Club Caller Mike McIntyre was on hand to take part in the festivities. Nine of the graduates from the Mainstream & PLUS sessions are pictured above with club dance instructor Dan Grimes. They are: DeWayne Veenhuis, Yuki Homman, Linda & Ray Everett, Dan Grimes, Derek Haber, Debora Pinkney, Denise McCarthy, and Bill & Christine Kiewit. Not in the picture are PLUSgraduate Pat Marks, Mainstream graduate Ann Fedeli, and Mainstream graduate Ruth de-La Viez. In addition to the graduation certificates, other awards were distributed. Denise McCarthy received an award for her perfect attendance during the year. Linda Everett, Derek Haber, and Ray Everett were awarded for their near perfect attendance. Why even the Web Master and Class Registrar, Donald Barber, received a bottle of Jack Daniels for his yearlong efforts to the square dance club. |

6/11/19 frederick keys game
On Tuesday June 11th, 16 members of the club attended the Frederick Keys game. It was a fun social time for all involved especially when Keyote, the Keys Mascot, stopped by for a visit. Many thanks to Pat Marks for organizing this outing. Perhaps we can make this an annual event.

Filling the Easter baskets with food donations was the first priority at the Bunny Hop Dance on Sunday April 14th. Pictured above are the club members and guests holding the filled to the brim baskets to be donated to a local food bank organization.

The display and selling of second hand square dance attire was prevalent during the April 5th Stop & Sell The Roses dance. 3/22 march to the dance hall DANCE
Seven squares of marchers attended the belated St. Patrick's Day themed March To The Dance Hall Dance on Friday March 22nd. Included in the mix was a contingent of Felonious Four County Squares with the devious purpose of stealing our beloved banner. Pictured on the left is the dancers in their themed green. Pictured on the right is the aforementioned nefarious looters taking the banner from a bewildered Club President Henry Lane. I am pretty sure that a recapture the banner raid is in the astute planning phase of General Henry.

1/7/19 two promenaders attend pennsylvania farm show
On Monday January 7th one square of the Gad-Abouts attended and performed in exhibition and competition at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg. Pictured on the above left is the square waiting to enter the Parade of Squares at the beginning of the show. The above right photo is the square assembling in their designated spot 47. 12/7/18 CHRISTMAS POT LUCK DINNER DANCE!
The holiday season was kicked off in a rousing and tasty way at the Christmas Pot Luck Dinner Dance on Friday December 7th at the FCP club dance. Food and holiday cheers were abundant as five of the dance class students (on right) joined regular club members and guest visitors to the seasonal singing calls of Club Caller Doren McBroom.

10/19/18 TOM THUMBS ROAD TRIP!
On Friday October 19th, twelve Promenaders, led by Club President Henry Lane, went "On The Road Again", eastbound on Route I-70, to the Tom Thumbs square dance in Ellicott City. It was the front end of a home and home trip. The Tom Thumbs will visit the Promenaders home turf in May 2019.

It was Spooky Sunday in Walkersville on 10/14 as the Promenaders hosted the Spooky Disco Ball dance. 8/26/18 fcp in the news at baker parkThe Frederick County Promenaders Square Dance Club danced before the Rock and Roll Relics concert at Baker Park on Aug. 26. They then invited audience members to learn a few basic calls. Art LaVigne was the caller. 6/15/18 summer sizzle danceSometime during the Friday June 15th Summer Sizzle dance, the FCP banner was stolen. It just so happens that members of the Tom Thumb Square Dance Club (pictured above) were present for the dance. Afterwards, an enraged Club President and Commander-In-Chief Henry Lane was quoted as saying "this unprovoked banner steal will not go unpunished". He is already making secret plans for the Frederick County Promenaders Super Secret Covert Operations Team (FCPSSCOT) to travel to the thieves with itchy Thumbs lair in Ellicott City with orders to retrieve the prized possession by any means necessary.

7/6/18 four county squares banner retrievalThings were not as casual as anticipated at the Summer Sizzle dance on Friday July 6th. The Four County Squares contingent had other ideas. They took strategic advantage of the "casualness" and managed to retrieve their banner previously stolen by the Promenaders on April 21st.. The devious retrieval was organized by Club President Don Pahl, pictured in the Black Hat.

6/2/18 FRIENDSHIP SQUARES BANNER RETRIEVAL
On Saturday June 2nd, a felonious contingent of FCP club members visited the Friendship Squares club dance, with the ultimate nefarious goal of retrieving the FCP club banner previously stolen from them. As you can see, the mission was a success with club member Andrea Smith capturing the FCP banner from Friendship Squares club member Jim Newell. To date, FCP banner retrieval teams have a 100% success rate.

On February 21st, members of the Promenaders went on a road trip to the Lovettesville Elementary School Aftercare center. During the demo the students were asked to participate. The picture on the left shows a student fixing a shoelace technical glitch before the "Show Could Go On".

2/3/18 PANHANDLERS BANNER STEALChalk up another successful banner steal by the now infamous Frederick County Promenaders Super Secret Covert Operations Team (FCPSSCOT). The team, minus Club President and team General Henry Lane, boldly heisted the banner from the Panhandlers Square Dance Club on Saturday night February 3rd using a visitation as the guise to enter the clubs domain. Notably absent from the heist was Henry Lane, who trusted that the mission would be ably carried out in his absence. Could the mastermind General be laying low until the heat is off? Only time will tell.

On January 8th, FCP Club Members Marjorie Barber and Dan Grimes, who are also members of the Gad-Abouts, were part of the Gad-Abouts Square Dance Clubs contingent that performed in square dance exhibition and competition at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg. A total of 60 squares participated in the event. The picture shows the Gad-Abouts members displaying their Superior Performance Blue Ribbons!

12/2/17 another fcpsscot banner retrievalOn Saturday December 2nd, the Frederick County Promenaders Super Secret Covert Operations Team (FCPSSCOT), led by their Team General, retrieved the previously heisted FCP banner, during a visitation to the Village Swingers Square Dance Club in Rockville, Maryland. The FCPSSCOT was last seen hurtling up the I-270 car-pool lane towards Frederick with the Montgomery Count Police in hot pursuit. The cannot be named for obvious security reasons FCP Club President and Team General is seen in the photo holding the FCP banner.

On 11/18, marching to the military style orders of FCP Club President Henry Lane, the Frederick County Promanaders Super Secret Covert Operations Team (FCPSSCOT), silently slipped down to Martinsburg West Virginia to retrieve their club banner that had been previously heisted by the Panhandlers on a recent visit to an FCP square dance. Pictured above are the elusive members of the FCPSSCOT holding the prized FCP banner. The FCPSSCOT returned to Frederick under the cover of night and await their next mission!

On Saturday November 4th, members of the Promenaders went on a short road trip to the Dearbought Community in Frederick MD. The purpose of this visit was twofold. The first part was a demonstration square dance for the members of the community. The second part was a First Nighter which allowed the members of the community to square dance with the Promenaders. The picture above includes Promenaders and community members.
