december 31 - panhandler New year's eve dance

On a rainy, foggy night, twelve Club Members and 4 Students rang in 2025 at the traditional Panhandler New Year's Eve Dance in Charles Town WVA.  Calling duties went to Mike McIntyre, Art LaVigne, and Dan Grimes.  Butch Bloxom orchestrated the many rounds.

Note: The 4th Student (Janie) is not in the picture.

december 20 - holiday dance

Twenty-Eight Club Members and 4 Students welcomed 8 Guest Visitors to the Holiday Dance on 12/20/24.  The entire group enjoyed the 3 tables of food and the Holiday calls of Guest Caller Art LaVigne on loan from the Gad-Abouts.

There were 7 door prizes raffled, a 50/50 raffle, a Hershey Kisses Guess The Number In The Jar contest, a Best Homemade Ornament award, and 4 Webmaster Holiday Sweater awards given out. 

After the event, there was Christmas Caroling with music supplied by Guest Visitor Viola Noffsinger.

december 16 - Four County squares road trip

On Monday December 16th, a Promenader contingent of Club Members and Students traveled East on Route 70 to attend the Holiday Square Dance at the Four County Squares Dance Club.

december 1 - crazy hats dance

Fifteen Club Members greeted 6 Guest Visitors to the always interesting Crazy hats Dance on Sunday December 1st.  The Guest Caller was Terry Headlee.

The Webmaster presented the Crazy Hat award to Club Member Ed Kiebler pictured in the Red Hat.

november 15 - Thanksgiving dance

Twenty Club Members welcomed 8 Guest Visitors including the WASCA 2025 "Duck Dive 25" Festival Co-Director (Steve Cunnion) to the Thanksgiving Dance on November 15, 2024.  Steve set up a WASCA table and gave a presentation about the upcoming festival in March 2025.  The club event also featured a fundraiser of non-perishable food items to be donated to a local food bank.

thursday november 7 - heartsfield demo

One square of Promenaders ventured out on Route 26 to perform a square dancing demo at Heartsfield Assisted Living in Frederick.  As usual, the club encouraged workers and residents of the facility to take part in the demo.  The caller of the demo was Club Member Robert Abdinoor.

sunday november 3 - Veterans  dance

Sixteen Club Members welcomed 3 Guest Visitors and Guest Caller Ett McAtee to the Promenader Veterans Dance on Sunday November 3rd. 

The unusual small number of attendees were entertained by the patriotic calling lilts of our Guest Caller.

friday October 18th - halloween  dance

At the Halloween dance on Friday night October 18th, the club welcomed back to the fold former club member Robert Abdinoor.
There were 25 club members and 4 guest visitors at the spooky event ably called by Club Caller Mike "Pancho" McIntyre.
There were many door prizes and Halloween costume awards handed out. The three "Special" Webmaster Costume Awards were won by visitor Pamela Harris as "The Wraith", member Andrew Provo as "Alfred - Batman's Butler", and member Bonnie Pollack as "The Woodstock Hippie Girl".

Sunday October 6th - pet pictures dance

There were many pictures of pets, a large stuffed bear pet, and 12 live chicks pets at the Pet Pictures Dance on Sunday October 6th.  It was a good thing we had Barbara the Veterinarian in attendance to check on the live chicks.  She also proclaimed that the stuffed pet bear was indeed stuffed.

friday september 20 - fall colors dance

On this, the first day of Fall, there was more color inside the Ruritan Club than in the trees outside as 24 Promenaders welcomed 8 Guest Visitors to their Fall Colors Dance on Friday night September 20th.

The Club Colors of Gold & Black were prominently on display by the attendees at the Club Colors Dance on Sunday Sept 8th.  There were 3 squares of members and guest visitors entertained by Guest Caller Terry Headlee.

August 18, 2024 Favorite T-shirt DANCE

Twenty-Nine Promenaders welcomed 15 guest visitors to the Favorite T-Shirt Dance on Sunday afternoon August 18th.  

This was the final dance of the 2024 Summer Dance program.

Back at the calling helm was Club Caller Mike McIntyre.

P.S. Why didn't anyone tell dancers #19 and #68 to turn around for the photo op?

August 4, 2024 polka dots DANCE

While there were no "Polka Dot Bikinis" anywhere in sight, there were plenty of other various Polka Dot ensembles at the Polka Dots Dance on Sunday August 4th.  As usual, Guest Caller Virgil Forbes calls were in tune with the theme of the event. ​

JUNE 27, 2024 Girl scouts demo

A Promenader contingent travelled down 340 West to Knoxville, Maryland to perform a square dance demonstration for the Girl Scouts who were attending a summer camp.  There were two 45 minute sessions.

JUNE 21, 2024 LUAU DANCE

On a steamy Friday night June 21st, at the FCP Luau Dance, 24 club members welcomed a whopping 22 guest visitors. The only one missing from this festive Luau event was Don Ho (Mister Tiny Bubbles).

And they all enjoyed the calls of Guest Caller Doren McBroom.

JUNE 15, 2024 frederick keys game

It was a perfect night for the 20 + Promenaders and 5 guests group outing at the Frederick Keys game on June 15th.  It was Star Wars Night so there were plenty of kids marveling at the plethora of Storm Troopers and other characters roaming the stadium concourse.
Your Webmaster was laboriously looking for Princess Leia but could not locate her.
As usual the aftergame fireworks display was awesome as you can see from the videos above.

American Flag Dance - June 2, 2024

Three squares + of members, recently graduated students, and visitors celebrated the American Flag this Sunday June 2nd.  And who better to call this dance than Guest Caller Virgil Forbes who is a retired Naval Veteran in his 4th decade of calling square dances.

CINCO DE MAYO DANCE - DOMINGO, MAYO CINCO, 2024

There was plenty of Cinco De Mayo at the club dance on Domingo, Cinco De Mayo.  From the calls of Guest Caller Arturo LaVigne to the delicious goodies at the snack table, to the celebration of Club Treasurer Ronaldo's birthday. 
Ronaldo along with Cheryl and the dance attendees celebrated his Ochenta Cinco birthday on this Cinco De Mayo day.
So, to Ronaldo we all say "Feliz Cumpleanos".

APPLE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL ROAD TRIP - MAY 4TH, 2024

On Saturday May 4th a contingent of Promenaders went down I-81 to the Apple Blossom Festival square dance in Winchester, VA.  Pictured are Clara, Sam, Linda, Ray, Jan, Alex, Mike, Mary, Marjorie, and Dan.  ​Unfortunately The Webmaster did not get any apple blossoms, apples, apple cider, or apple pie from the road trip.

APRIL 21, 2024 TIE DYE DANCE

The slogan of the dance could have been "Here a Tie, there some Dye, Everywhere a Tie Dye", shirt that is. 

Twelve visitors joined 6 club students and 20 club members to the Tie Dye Dance on Sunday April 21st.

The feature event was the club's Fundraiser Basket Raffle with 39 individual items to bid on.  An amazing $223 was raised for the club coffers.

Oh, and by the way, Club Member and Instructor Dan "The Maestro" Grimes was the winner and recipient of the prestigious "Webmaster's NCAA March Madness Contest" award.

APRIL 7, 2024 SPRING FLING WITH 2ND HAND ROSE SALE DANCE

The Spring Fling Dance featuring the 2nd Hand Rose Sale of square dance attire, was in full force on Sunday April 7th.
Twelve guest visitors, along with 24 club members and 4 club students danced to the Spring calls of Club Caller Mike McIntyre. 
​$81 was raised from the sale.  The Webmaster won the 50/50 raffle for the second dance in a row and once again promptly donated it back to the club.
With his newfound luck, he was last seen heading to BWI Airport for a trip to Las Vegas.

MARCH 24, 2024 - EASTER BUNNY DANCE

​​They say that bunny rabbits multiply very quickly.  Well that must be true since the bunny rabbits that came to the Easter Bunny Dance on 3/24 came in droves.  The only person missing was that "Wascally Wabbit" hunter Elmer Fudd.  Leading the bunny rabbit contingent was Bunny Mascot, Mrs. Terry Headlee (pictured in the center of the photo) , wife of the Guest Caller for this event.  Our Bunny Mascot also led the Bunny Hop that broke out at the beginning of the dance.  As a side note, Our Webmaster finally won the 50/50 drawing and promptly donated it back to the club coffers.

March 3, 2024 St. Patrick's dance

It was a "Sea of Green" on March 3rd at the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club as 20 Promenader Club Members and 3 students welcomed 13 Guest Visitors to the St. Patrick's Dance.

As usual there was a multitude of snacks at the snack table.

The video shows the attendees enjoying the song "Puff The Magic Dragon" by Club Caller Mike McIntyre.

FEBRUARY 24, 2024 - ROAD TRIP TO GADS MARDI GRAS DANCE

There ​were over 5 squares of Mardi Gras revelers at the Gad-Abouts Mardi Gras dance on 2/24.  Included in that total was a Baker's Dozen of Frederick County Promenaders.  As usual, Club Caller Art LaVigne, was splendid in his choice of song selections to match a given theme.  In particular, the Webmaster enjoyed two of his song selections.  One of them is "Jambalaya" that is represented in the video.  Also, I must complement Club Cuer Butch Bloxom on his excellent Round Dance presentations.

Club Member Deborah won the "Prize Under The Silver Box", a Mardi Gras Themed Cake.

FEBRUARY 24, 2024 - SOMERFORD HOUSE DEMONSTRATION

Nineteen Club Members including 4 students and guests performed a square dance demonstration for the residents and employees of the Somerford House in Frederick MD.  One session was performed in the quaint and cozy foyer inside the main entrance.

FEBRUARY 18, 2024 VALENTINE'S DANCE

Twenty-one Club Members, six club students, and six visitors celebrated Valentine's Day at the Valentine's Dance on 2/18.  Terry Headlee was the Guest Caller.  The club square dancers and visitors were going to surprise Terry by doing the Grand Square call on the first call by Terry.  However, guess what?  His FIRST call was GRAND SQUARE.
OK, who tipped Terry off? The Webmaster is determined to find out!

As a side note:  Linda the chicken starting her egg producing process again so 2 dozen eggs were donated by Ed Kiebler as door prizes.  CLUCK! CLUCK!.

FEBRUARY 14, 2024 DANCE CLASS

At the "Valentines Day" Dance Class, Class Coordinators presented Mainstream Graduation Certificates to seven of the nine graduates. 

In the photo above from left to right are graduates Yoshi Tucker, Sandy Buck, Lois Roney, Ann Simpson, Class Coordinator Ray Everett, Class Coordinator Andrea Smith, graduates Clara Kohler, Sam Kohler, and Glenn Marshall. 

​Not in the picture are graduates Ya Ya Holt and Mary Anne Williams.  Three new PLUS calls were taught by Club Instructor "The Maestro" Dan Grimes.

FEBRUARY 4, 2024 FOOTBALL SUNDAY DANCE

A pre-Superbowl week Sunday brought out 5 squares of members, visitors and students to this Student Mainstream  Dance.

Nine students including 6 of ours who graduated the Mainstream session on 1/31 took part in the festivities.

JANUARY 21, 2024 OPPOSITE'S ATTRACT DANCE

There were many Black/White attires at the Opposite's Attract Dance that you would have thought you were at a Penguin Convention.  There were 26 club members, 4 club students and 13 guest visitors at this dance.  As usual now, there were plenty of snacks to be had by all.

JANUARY 7, 2024 - NEW YEAR'S DANCE

The Precipitation Prognosticator's Predictions for 2-6 inches of snow on Saturday did not pan out.  As a result, on Sunday, there were five + squares of club members (31), students (6), and visitors (10) at the first square dance of 2024. 

​There also was a plentiful variety of snacks at the snack table.
