december 19 - christmas party dance
|
|
It truly was a party at the Ruritan Club on Friday night December 19th. Along with the Webmaster's devoured Meatballs Extravaganza, there was a multitude of other delectable cuisine items available for consumption by the 28 Club Members, 5 students, and 13 Guest Visitors. Of course it was ably called by Club Caller Mike McIntyre. For the first time in my recollection there were 4 drawings ably conducted by your Webmaster. One of them was the first ever 50/50 raffle for previous losing tickets saved over the past two months. And lo and behold it only took 5 drawn tickets to claim a winner. The winner was Lois R who will be enjoying a nice meal at Ruby Tuesday courtesy of you know who! After the event the customary Christmas carol chorus was led by Viola N. The desserts must have been really good as I saw Ed visiting the table 5 times.

August 24 - baker Park demo
|
|
|
In what is now an annual tradition, the Club uses the time slot before the Sunday Night Baker Park Concert in the Park series to perform a square dancing demonstration to help promote our Club and Square Dance Class that begins on September 10th. This year we had quite a few Club and Guest square dancers perform in the demo. As usual we encourage audience members to participate in the demo. The sign in the photo above, that was designed by Club Member Christine Levy, is now an integral part of our regular advertising as we perform at different venues during the year. Our next demo is at The Great Frederick Fair in late September. The Club also wants to thank our Caller Art LaVigne for his vital part in the performance.

Fifty revelers came to the Beach Life Dance on Friday August 22 to pay homage and bid a fond farewell to two long-time Frederick residents and Frederick County Promenaders. Jan & Alex Dommerich are heading off to Pittsburgh PA.
They received a well-deserved send off by their current Club Members and many long time acquaintances of theirs and the Clubs. The Club is very grateful to Jan & Alex for their generous donation to the Club coffers as we head into the 2025-2026 Dance year. Using the Club and Visitor donations collected for the Jan & Alex Fund we provided the cake and club logo poster you see above as well as a soon to be delivered Visa Gift Card. |

July 25 - ice cream social dance
There were 41 dancers including 3 recently graduated students at this annual fun event. They all enjoyed calls from the now regular Guest Caller Art LaVigne. There was a plethora of assorted ice cream flavors (Mint Chocolate was the fan favorite) and many different liquid and solid toppings. As you can see from the photo above Ray was caught red-handed with his 3 scoop dish!
Your Webmaster was very busy doing things at the registration desk and handling some of the ice cream stuff so I did not take a video at this event.

may 16 - legos creations dance
|
|
Your eyes are not deceiving you. Last night's Legos Creations Dance was held in the parking lot of the unlit MPRC. An area-wide power outage was the cause.
But thanks to visitor Mike Timmons, who volunteered use of his 4X4 truck's auxiallary power outlet, the decision was made by our club president for this alternate dancing arrangement. And, as a thank you to the visitors who stayed for this outdoor event, the visitor fee was waived by the club. |

The entourage danced to the Calls of Guest Caller Art LaVigne and the Rounds of Guest Cuers Butch Bloxom and Roberta Harris.

Good Morning FCP Club President.
About a month ago the Village Swingers Square Dance Club stole your club banner and were last seen hightailing it down I-270 South to their headquarters.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to retrieve your club banner and make it back to Frederick.
Well, your Club President accepted the mission and successfully retrieved the FCP banner.
The photo shows the assembled FCP “Mission Impossible” team at the Village Swingers club during the heist.
Ethan Hunt was proud of your successfull mission impossible.

January 5th New Years Dance
|
|
2025 was ushered in with a bang as 35 Club Members, 26 Guest Visitors, and 5 Club Students formed 8 squares to the delightful calling lilts of Guest Caller Art LaVigne.
Eleven of the Guest Visitors were from the Village Swingers Square Dance Club. Little did we know that those 11 had a dastardly motive to their visit. For you see, that when it was time to stow away our beloved Banner it was nowhere to be found. It was last seen in the larcenous hands of Virginia Fromel of the Swingers. The photo above is all the evidence we need to consider this event as the first POST-COVID Banner Steal. Our Club President is already planning a retaliation visit to the Rockville club to retrieve our Banner. |
