Twenty-Nine Promenaders welcomed 15 guest visitors to the Favorite T-Shirt Dance on Sunday afternoon August 18th.

It was a perfect night for the 20 + Promenaders and 5 guests group outing at the Frederick Keys game on June 15th. It was Star Wars Night so there were plenty of kids marveling at the plethora of Storm Troopers and other characters roaming the stadium concourse.
Your Webmaster was laboriously looking for Princess Leia but could not locate her.
As usual the aftergame fireworks display was awesome as you can see from the videos above.

CINCO DE MAYO DANCE - DOMINGO, MAYO CINCO, 2024
There was plenty of Cinco De Mayo at the club dance on Domingo, Cinco De Mayo. From the calls of Guest Caller Arturo LaVigne to the delicious goodies at the snack table, to the celebration of Club Treasurer Ronaldo's birthday.
Ronaldo along with Cheryl and the dance attendees celebrated his Ochenta Cinco birthday on this Cinco De Mayo day.
So, to Ronaldo we all say "Feliz Cumpleanos".

APPLE BLOSSOM FESTIVAL ROAD TRIP - MAY 4TH, 2024
On Saturday May 4th a contingent of Promenaders went down I-81 to the Apple Blossom Festival square dance in Winchester, VA. Pictured are Clara, Sam, Linda, Ray, Jan, Alex, Mike, Mary, Marjorie, and Dan. Unfortunately The Webmaster did not get any apple blossoms, apples, apple cider, or apple pie from the road trip.
APRIL 21, 2024 TIE DYE DANCE

The slogan of the dance could have been "Here a Tie, there some Dye, Everywhere a Tie Dye", shirt that is.
Twelve visitors joined 6 club students and 20 club members to the Tie Dye Dance on Sunday April 21st. The feature event was the club's Fundraiser Basket Raffle with 39 individual items to bid on. An amazing $223 was raised for the club coffers. Oh, and by the way, Club Member and Instructor Dan "The Maestro" Grimes was the winner and recipient of the prestigious "Webmaster's NCAA March Madness Contest" award. |
APRIL 7, 2024 SPRING FLING WITH 2ND HAND ROSE SALE DANCE
|
The Spring Fling Dance featuring the 2nd Hand Rose Sale of square dance attire, was in full force on Sunday April 7th.
Twelve guest visitors, along with 24 club members and 4 club students danced to the Spring calls of Club Caller Mike McIntyre. $81 was raised from the sale. The Webmaster won the 50/50 raffle for the second dance in a row and once again promptly donated it back to the club. With his newfound luck, he was last seen heading to BWI Airport for a trip to Las Vegas. |
MARCH 24, 2024 - EASTER BUNNY DANCE
|
They say that bunny rabbits multiply very quickly. Well that must be true since the bunny rabbits that came to the Easter Bunny Dance on 3/24 came in droves. The only person missing was that "Wascally Wabbit" hunter Elmer Fudd. Leading the bunny rabbit contingent was Bunny Mascot, Mrs. Terry Headlee (pictured in the center of the photo) , wife of the Guest Caller for this event. Our Bunny Mascot also led the Bunny Hop that broke out at the beginning of the dance. As a side note, Our Webmaster finally won the 50/50 drawing and promptly donated it back to the club coffers.

March 3, 2024 St. Patrick's dance

It was a "Sea of Green" on March 3rd at the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club as 20 Promenader Club Members and 3 students welcomed 13 Guest Visitors to the St. Patrick's Dance.

FEBRUARY 24, 2024 - ROAD TRIP TO GADS MARDI GRAS DANCE
There were over 5 squares of Mardi Gras revelers at the Gad-Abouts Mardi Gras dance on 2/24. Included in that total was a Baker's Dozen of Frederick County Promenaders. As usual, Club Caller Art LaVigne, was splendid in his choice of song selections to match a given theme. In particular, the Webmaster enjoyed two of his song selections. One of them is "Jambalaya" that is represented in the video. Also, I must complement Club Cuer Butch Bloxom on his excellent Round Dance presentations.

FEBRUARY 24, 2024 - SOMERFORD HOUSE DEMONSTRATION

Nineteen Club Members including 4 students and guests performed a square dance demonstration for the residents and employees of the Somerford House in Frederick MD. One session was performed in the quaint and cozy foyer inside the main entrance.
FEBRUARY 18, 2024 VALENTINE'S DANCE
Twenty-one Club Members, six club students, and six visitors celebrated Valentine's Day at the Valentine's Dance on 2/18. Terry Headlee was the Guest Caller. The club square dancers and visitors were going to surprise Terry by doing the Grand Square call on the first call by Terry. However, guess what? His FIRST call was GRAND SQUARE.
OK, who tipped Terry off? The Webmaster is determined to find out!
As a side note: Linda the chicken starting her egg producing process again so 2 dozen eggs were donated by Ed Kiebler as door prizes. CLUCK! CLUCK!.

At the "Valentines Day" Dance Class, Class Coordinators presented Mainstream Graduation Certificates to seven of the nine graduates.

JANUARY 21, 2024 OPPOSITE'S ATTRACT DANCE
There were many Black/White attires at the Opposite's Attract Dance that you would have thought you were at a Penguin Convention. There were 26 club members, 4 club students and 13 guest visitors at this dance. As usual now, there were plenty of snacks to be had by all.

The Precipitation Prognosticator's Predictions for 2-6 inches of snow on Saturday did not pan out. As a result, on Sunday, there were five + squares of club members (31), students (6), and visitors (10) at the first square dance of 2024.

DECEMBER 31ST, 2023 PANHANDLER NEW YEARS EVE DANCE

A contingent of 14 Promenaders went on a 25 mile road trip on 340 West to Charles Town West Virginia to attend the New Years Eve Square Dance. Pictured from left to right are: Andrea, Sam (Student), Clara (Student), Linda, Ray, Rachel, Marjorie, Andrew, Jan, and Alex.

It was a true smorgasbord of various edible delights too numerous to mention. The food and Holiday themed calls by Club Caller Mike McIntyre were enjoyed by over 5 squares of club members, students and guests. The Webmaster surely had his share of the eats and is more than ready for the next smorgasbord whenever it is!

NOVEMBER 17, 2023 - WASCA THEME DANCE

Twenty-five club members welcomed 7 guest visitors to its WASCA Theme Dance on Friday November 17th. Three of the guests were representatives from WASCA who gave a briefing about WASCA and the upcoming weekend festival in March.
In concert with the WASCA Festival Theme, Jan Dommerich displayed a table full of her "Dolls From Around The World" collection. A display table was also set up by representatives from WASCA. |
november 5, 2023 - Veterans DANCE

There were 3 + squares of Club Members and Guests who paid homage to our Veterans to the patriotic calls of Guest Caller Terry Headlee. There was one table devoted to Veteran's memorabilia brought to the event by Club Members. Guest visitor Karen Dotson won the door prize, Bonnie Rohr won the 50-50 prize, Bonnie Pollack and Kevin Sullivan each won a prize for their 1st place and 2nd place entries in the now famous Webmaster's Trivia Contest.

OCTOBER 15, 2023 - HALLOWEEN DANCE
Twenty-seven club members welcomed 10 guests to the Halloween Dance on October 15th, 2023. Everyone enjoyed the spooky calls by Club Caller Mike McIntyre. There were also delectable delights at the snack table. The Webmaster's Best Pumpkin Award went to Beverly Magyar. The Webmaster's Best Costume Awards went to Cathy Ligsay as The Roaring 20's Flapper Girl and Mike and Mary Flessner as Mr. and Mrs. Blackbeard The Pirate.
October 1, 2023 - 35th Anniversary Dance
To celebrate the 35th Anniversary of our club, Mary Anne Gearinger read her poem written for this occasion.
The Frederick County Promenaders Square Dance Club's 35th Anniversary Dance was a well-planned and coordinated event and it showed. Kudos to Jan Dommerich and her team of organizing members. The event included special invitations to more than 80 former club members dating back to year one. Twenty-six former club members attended the event.

SEPTEMBER 17, 2023 FREDERICK COUNTY FAIR DEMONSTRATION

Several months ago the call went out to all Promenaders and other area Club members to take part in a square dance demonstration at the Frederick County Fair. Well, the call was heeded as over 25 members and guests registered for the event and square danced for three hours in Building 14A. The demonstration even enticed some fairgoers to take part in the festivities.
SEPTEMBER 10, 2023 BLACK GOLD & WHITE DANCE
Twenty-seven Promenaders, many of them in dance theme attire, welcomed 9 guests to the opening dance of the 2023-2024 dance schedule. During the dance, Club Caller Mike McIntyre led the dancers in a solemn remembrance of the 9/11/01 events in NYC, Washington DC, and Shanksville Pennsylvania.

On Saturday night Sept 9th ten Promenaders visited the Gad-Abouts Welcome Back Dance. They were entertained by the calling of Guest National Caller Mike Sikorsky. This small 15 second video snippet showcases Mike's calling abilities. The dancers had to be alert and quick to respond to this calling barrage.

SEPTEMBER 6, 2023 SQUARE DANCE LESSONS OPEN HOUSE

A whopping 29 Club Angels came to the Ballenger Community Center on this hot September evening to support a whopping 26 prospective students. The students were introduced to approximately 15 Mainstream calls by Club Instructor Dan "The Maestro" Grimes. The class continues on September 13th with a First Free Night.

AUGUST 20, 2023 PANDHANDLER DEMO AT JEFFERSON COUNTY FAIR

On August 20th a contingent of Panhandlers and Promenaders convened for a square dancing demo at the Jefferson County Fair. The demo event was sponsored by the Jefferson County Ruritan Club. The Promenaders attending were Marjorie, Dan, Bonnie and Jerry. As usual the dancers were treated to eats and drinks afterwards.

AUGUST 18, 2023 JUNGLE SAFARI DANCE
Twenty-three Promenaders and 8 visitors attended the final dance of the Summer program. The attire of many dancers aptly fit the jungle safari theme. The snack table had many delectable delights that pleased the Webmaster.
AUGUST 6, 2023 2023 MISMATCHED OUTFITS DANCE
The mismatched outfits were out in force at the Mismatched Outfits Dance on August 6th, 2023. The Webmaster's selection for the Most Hideous Mismatched Outfit was Ed Kiebler. Could Ed be the next Superhero in a future Marvel movie?
It was also nice to have a return of the snack table with assorted goodies after a long long layoff. |
AUGUST 5, 2023 FREDERICK KEYS GAME

Sixteen Promenaders including several guests attended the Frederick Keys baseball game on Saturday night August 5th. While the final score was a disappointing 14-5 in favor of the visiting 1st place West Virginia Black Bears, the always dependable post-game fireworks show was worth the wait of the long game. The video shows the fireworks finale.

JULY 21, 2023 BEACH PARTY DANCE

The surf was up and the dancing was hot as 29 club members and 16 visitors rode the waves in their squares to the beach tunes of Club Caller Mike McIntyre. Ray and Linda brought their personal beach gear and set up shop in a corner of the dance floor.

JUly 2, 2023 4th of july Dance
Twenty-five club members and 13 guest visitors gathered on this pre-July 4th Sunday afternoon to listen to the patriotic calls of Navy veteran Guest Caller Virgil Forbes, and he did not disappoint. The 3 door prizes were won by Guest Visitor Bev Sumy, club member Mary Ann Gearinger, and club member Bob Taft. The 50-50 drawing prize of $28 was won by Guest Caller Virgil Forbes. The Webmaster's Trivia Contest was won by Bonnie Pollack.
JUNE 17, 2023 ROCKY RIDGE DEMO
A contingent of Promenaders traveled up Route 15 on Saturday afternoon to Rocky Ridge to give a square dance demonstration to a group of Northern County Seniors.

It was a delightful evening for the Promenader contingent who attended the SRO game on June 17th. Ten club members and 3 guests enjoyed the Keys 7-1 win and the fireworks afterwards. George won Panera gift card door prize, Mary Ann won a Keys Backpack door prize, and Andrew won a Keys Coaster Set door prize. The next Keys outing is on August 5th.

There were "Flowers In The Air, Flowers Everywhere" as eight guest visitors joined 21 Promenaders at the Flowers Dance on June 16th. They all enjoyed the calls of Guest Caller Terry Headlee. Guest visitor David Dunston won the fifty-fifty drawing.

JUNE 4, 2023 POLKA DOTS DANCE
Twenty-four club members and 14 visitors attended the Polka Dots dance on June 4th. This dance was the first of 6 summer dances in June, July and August. The Guest Caller was Art Lavigne.
MAY 19 2023 - Last 2022-2023 CLUB DANCE
The May 19th Red White and Blue dance marked the end of the 2022-2023 club dance schedule. It went out with a pre-4th of July bang as the patriotically clad members and guests were entertained by the patriotic calls of Guest Caller Terry Headlee. This dance also marks the end of the COVID restrictions that were in place for the last 2 years.
4/23/23 VISIT TO PANHANDLER FUNDRAISER DANCE
Eighteen Promenaders traveled to Charles Town West Virginia on Sunday afternoon April 23rd to support the Pandhandler's Square Dance Club to raise funds for their dance venue the Asbury United Methodist Church. From what I was told the effort raised over $1,000 for the church. Kudos to the Promenaders in their effort to support another club.
4/21/23 GLITZ & GLAM DANCE
Twenty-Nine club members along with 11 guest visitors attended the Glitz & Glam Dance on Friday April 21st. Two door prizes and a 50/50 prize of $24 were awarded.
4/2/23 SPRING COLORS DANCE
Spring was busting out all over at the Spring Colors Dance on Sunday April 2nd. Enhancing the dancer spring colors was the items of square dance attire for sale during the 2nd Hand Rose Event. There were 28 club members and 22 visitors at the event.
3/24/23 CRAZY HATS DANCE
Four + squares including 12 guest visitors and all of their Crazy Hats enjoyed the calling of Guest Caller Terry Headlee. The Webmaster's winner of the craziest hat went to Margaret Tucker with a hat that had a huge spider sitting on top. She was rewarded with a gift certificate to Panera's.

A dozen or so Promenaders attended the 3 day WASCA "Cherry Blossom Festival" dance from 3/17 - 3/19 in Alexandria Virginia.
2/24/23 MARDI GRAS DANCE
Thirty-two club members and students, along with twenty visitors, were entertained by Guest Caller Virgil Forbes, Mardi Gras style, with many singing calls having a New Orleans theme.
2/5/23 Valentine's DANCE
Eight squares of Club Members, students, and visitors attended the Valentine's Dance on Sunday 2/5/23. As you can see from the photo there was a large contingent of them attired in red.

Each chair back was adorned with remembrances of Dr. Martin Luther King There was also a table with many MLK items on display.

The inaugural dance of 2023 was a roaring success. There were 35 club members and 25 guest visitors enjoying the melodic calls of Club Caller Mike McIntyre. As evidenced in the photo and video, the Black And White was in abundance.

12/16/22 Christmas Dance
With Guest Caller Virgil Forbes leading the way, there was a festive atmosphere at the Christmas Dance on 12/16/22. Twenty-five members and 3 students were joined by nine visitors. After the dance many of the attendees sang Christmas carols. Amazingly, Ed Kleiber won the 50/50 drawing for the 4th time this year. The next dance is the Black & White on Sunday January 8th.
12/2 heroes & villiains DANCE
Numerous heroes and villains took time from their busy lives and attended the FCP Heroes and Villains dance on Friday 12/02/22. The Webmaster had a very tough time keeping peace at this event and had even more trouble at identifying who they were.
11/20 MDSDF DanceIn the tradition of Willie Nelson's hit song "On The Road Again", eight Promenaders and two student ventured down I-70 East to Catonsville, MD to attend the MDSDF dance on Sunday, November 20th.

11/18 WASCA CHERRY RED COLORS DANCE
Thirty club members welcomed nine visitors that included a contingent from WASCA to the Cherry Red Colors Dance on 11/18. In addition to a WASCA table, there were several tables of Japanese attire presented by dance class member Yoshiko.
November 4th Veterans Dance
Twenty-three club members and 4 guests enjoyed the military themed calls from Club Caller Mike McIntyre. As usual there was military memorabilia on display. In a kind gesture, Ed Klieber who won the 50/50 raffle, donated his winnings back to the club.
October 30th Gad-Abouts 65th Anniversary gala dance
Seventeen Promenaders and The Webmaster attended the Gad-Abouts 65th Anniversary Gala Dance on Sunday October 30th. One of the highlights of the dance was the caller duet of Art LaVigne and Guest Caller Joe Saltel's version of Dream Lover.
OCTOBER 26th HALLOWEEN DANCE class
The Promenaders Halloween celebration continued on Wednesday night October 26th at the Square Dance Lessons Class. The winner of the Scariest costume was Ray Everett as the Punk Rocker Texas Chainsaw Massacre Man. The winner of the Most Original costumes were Mike Flessner as the Artist Bob Ross and Mary Flessner as the Easel. The winner of the Funniest costume was Linda Everett as the Penguin. Door prizes were won by Mary Flessner, Ya Ya Holt, Yuki Homman, and Nanine Rhinelander.
And by the way 7 new calls were introduced to the students. They were Clover Leaf, Fold, Allemande Thar, Shoot The Star, See Saw Your Partner, Walk Around Your Corner, and Wrong Way Promenade. It was a Halloween Spooktacular on Friday October 21st as 31 club members and guests celebrated this yearly event. The costume winners were Andrea Smith as Glenda The Good Witch of the East, Debora Pinkney as the Wicked Witch of the West, and Dennis and Sheila Covert as The Munchkins from Munchkinland. The Webmaster's Trivia Contest #2 was won by Bonnie Pollack (now isn't that a surprise!).

On this solemn day in American history 27 Club members and 5 guests attended the Welcome Back dance on September 11th. Club Webmaster and original New Yorker Donald Barber related on where he was when the attacks occurred on that fateful day. SEPTEMBER 9TH St. John's church bbq demo
On Friday evening Sept 9th, 2 + squares of Promenaders performed a dancing demo for the St. John's Council No. 1622 Knights of Columbus at St. John's Church in downtown Frederick. They also enjoyed a BBQ meal for their efforts. The calling was performed by Club Member Robert Abdinoor. As the club webmaster, I only ask why a BBQ sandwich was not brought home for me?

AUGUST 28th Baker park DEMO
On a hot, sultry Sunday evening on August 28th, the Promenaders once again performed a square dance demo at the "last Concert in the Park" at Baker Park. This demo is used as a recruiting effort for the upcoming square dance lessons class beginning in September.

AUGUST 21ST JEFFERSON COUNTY WVA FAIR DEMO

Continuing a long tradition of square dancing at the Fair, members of the Promenaders and Gad-Abouts performed a square dancing demonstration on the main stage at the fairgrounds. Promenaders included Marjorie Barber, Dan Grimes, Bonnie Pollack, and Jerry Pollack. Mike McIntyre provided the calling. Afterwards the square dancing contingent was treated to dinner by the South Jefferson Ruritan Club.

AUGUST 19TH ice cream social summer dance
|
The 2022 Summer Dance program concluded in fine style with individually wrapped ice cream items and Guest Caller Cameron Harnish who entertained 26 Promenaders and 11 visitors with his unique style of calling. The Ice Cream Social ended a long drought of refreshments not being served at a club indoor event.

AUGUST 6TH HOWARD COUNTY FAIR MDSDF DEMO
Four FCP club members (Marjorie, Ray, Linda, and Rachel) participated in the MDSDF sponsored demo at the Howard County Fairgrounds on Saturday evening August 6th.
JULY 29TH favorite t-shirt dance

Twenty-Three guests along with 24 club members attended the dance on Friday night. The guests were from the Gad-Abouts, Panhandlers, Friendship Squares, Four County Squares, and Tom Thumb dance clubs. All of the attendees enjoyed the calls of Guest Caller Terry Headlee. Linda Everett won the door prize and Barb Dodge won the 50-50 drawings.

JULY 23RD WEDDING PARTY SQUARE DANCING
On July 23rd, seven Promenaders traveled to Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town WVA to assist Dan Grimes in organizing a square dance for members of a wedding party.

JULY 15TH homewood demo
On Saturday evening July 15th the Promenaders traveled just north of Frederick City to Homewood for a square dance demonstration. During the demo quite a few residents participated in squares along with the club members.
JULY 10TH POLKA DOTS DANCE

Twenty-five club members and 10 visitors most wearing some form of polka-dotted attire enjoyed the calls of "Disco" Mike McIntyre at the Polka Dots dance on Sunday July 10th. And as an added treat during one of the rounds sessions an Electric Slide dance broke out.
Kevin Sullivan was announced as the Webmaster's Trivia Contest #10 winner. He received a gift card to the Olive Garden restaurant. |
JULY 9TH FREDERICK KEYS GAME
It was "Christmas In July" at the game as 30+ club members and guests attended the game on July 9th. Door prizes (Keys Portable Phone Chargers) were won by club members Ron Welke and Alex Dommerich. It was double header entertainment as the Keys won the game and the fans were treated to a fantastic fireworks display after the game.
JULY 6TH SUMMER WORKSHOP

The first Summer Workshop got off to a blistering hot start with 12 members and 6 visitors that included 4 recently graduated dance class students in attendance. The philanthropic Webmaster Donald Barber presented 2021-2022 Dance Class excellent attendance gift certificates to students Yoshiko and Ed and to Club Angels Robert and Mary Ann. One more gift certificate will be presented to another student at a later date. The gift certificates can be used at any 2022 Summer Dance or any 2 Summer Workshops.

june 29th Dance class
Hip Hip Hooray! The 2021-2022 Square Dance Class is finally over. Six students attended the finale and were presented graduation certificates. In the picture from left to right are student Nancy, student Elizabeth, Club Instructor "The Maestro" Dan, student Yoshiko, student Bob, student Janis, and student Ed. The students are holding the Promenaders traditional yellow "Square Dance Rocks" rocks. The 2021-2022 square dance class began back in September 2021 and concluded on June 29th despite several COVID-19 interruptions. Congratulations to the students for their dedication to square dancing. The students, if they choose to, can continue their Mainstream and PLUS square dancing as club members.
june 18th Frederick keys game
Twenty-five + club members and guests attended the Keys game on June 18th. Door prizes (portable phone chargers) were won by Jackie Armistead and Nancy Dankanovich. The fans were treated to a post-game fireworks display.
JUNE 12TH CLUB PICNIC
Seventeen Promenaders attended the club picnic /annual meeting on Sunday June 12th. The members answered three questions from the Club President. They were (1) How did you get started with square dancing, (2) Where is the farthest you have travelled in your lifetime, and (3) What was your favorite travel destination.
JUNE 4TH DAUGHTER'S OF CHARITY DEMO IN EMMITSBURG
Almost 2 squares of Promenaders went to Emmitsburg on June 4th for an afternoon demonstration for the Daughter's of Charity. After the event they were treated to an Ice Cream Social by the event hosts. Dan "The Maestro" Grimes did the calling.
5/27/22 RED WHITE & BLUE DANCE
The last club dance of the 2021-2022 year had 3 plus squares of 24 members and 2 students, who enjoyed the night of patriotic calls by Club Caller Mike McIntyre.

On a recent trip to Florida, Debora, like a good Promenader, came across a square dance club demo and decided to join the fun.

Three squares of Promenaders and guests including 2 club students (Nancy and Ed) enjoyed the crooning of club caller Senor Mike McIntyre. Bonnie Rohr won the 50-50, Bonnie Pollack won a door prize and Trivia Contest #9. Ron Welke won the other door prize.

4/1/2022 april fool's dance
The April Fool's Dance along with the 2nd Hand Rose Sale drew 5 plus squares of members and visitors. Maybe it also helped that the dance was actually on April Fool's Day.

3/27/22 Four County Squares Visit
On Sunday afternoon 3/27 a large contingent of Promenaders visited the Four County Squares in Eldersburg Maryland.

3/13/2022 St. Patrick DANCE

All that was missing from the festivities on Sunday 3/13 was a nice pot of Irish Stew and a keg of Guinness Stout. There was Irish music to the calls of Mike McIntyre, green square dance attire, and even an Irish Jig performed by club members Reid and Donna Lofton. There was also the largest number of members and guests in quite a while that made up 5 squares plus a few extra.
