our club
The Frederick County Promenaders have been dancing since 1988 as a Modern Western Style Square Dance Club. The club had 28 charter members. Now the club has 67 members.
The club danced at the Ballenger Community Hall in Feagaville, MD from 1988 to November 2014. Then they moved to the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club in Walkersville, MD. The club’s first caller was Roy Gosnell (1988-1994) followed by Charlie Stockman (1994-May 2014). Dean Singleton became the club’s caller in September 2014 and Linda Roberts became the cuer. The club dances first and third Fridays year round from 7:45 PM -10:15 PM. Dances include squares, rounds, line dances (sometimes), and refreshments.
Lessons are given October thru May at the Ballenger Community Hall in Feagaville, MD.
Since April 2010, the club has been collecting can tabs/flippies for the Shriners. As of April 2014, 22 gallons have been given to the Shriners. Twice a year the club sponsors a charity collection. Recipients are Frederick County Food Bank, Linton Cold Weather Shelter, or the Animal Welfare League. Members also do demos for community events and nursing home facilities.
We are an active, friendly and growing club. Members enjoy dancing, socializing, working, eating together and having fun. We believe square dancing is “friendship set to music”.
